For those operators who are operationally limited by their Cat I or Cat II capable airplanes, the APALS Same-As-Visual-Equipment provides Cat IIIa operations at most of the APALS Navigator airports. It also provides a clear growth path to Cat IIIb/c operations as the product matures. And true to the APALS mission statement, the capability is entirely carried on-board the airplane. Using a combination of Head Up and Head Down Displays, SAVE provides the IMC pilot with an environment that looks, feels, and flys better than a night visual approach at a ILS plusVASI or PAPI equipped airfield. The airplane is flown just like a night visual approach: coupled, flight director, or visual from the Outer Marker to the limits of the aircraft equipment. Below these limits it must be hand flown using the SAVE to maintain glideslope and localizer down through the assisted flare, landing, and rollout maneuvers. SAVE provides all the needed airport infrastructure to the pilot, completely independent of what actually exists on the ground. We include the approach lighting system, runway edge lights, touchdown zone lighting, centerline lighting, and end-of-runway lighting as well as the Cat III quality ILS system. Its available and operating at the outer marker and continues through the rollout. We are working on taxi .... Additionally, SAVE provides the workload reduction of Head Up Display conformal symbology in both the HUD and HDD environments. Its Space Shuttle inspired flare algorithm gives you an effective and natural assist to spot landings, even on difficult runways. Key Benefits
